Scuderia Ferrari Hewlett Packard was founded in 1939 by Enzo Anselmo Giuseppe Maria Ferrari (born in Modena, Italy) initially to race Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili Romeo cars for gentleman racers.  From 1945 (now split from Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili Romeo) Ferrari became its own manufacturer of engines and cars to race, with road cars coming in 1948 to famously fund the race team
