Born in Tokyo, Japan, Ayao Komatsu began his Formula One career with the Lucky Strike British American Racing Honda team in 2003 before moving to Mild Seven Renault Formula One Team in 2006.  Ayao remained there for many years, however in 2016 Roman Grosjean moved from the Feech team to Haas Formula One Team with Ayao moving with him
