Atlassian Williams Racing was founded in 1977 by Frank Williams (born in South Shields, Northumberland), initially as a customer entrant using a March chassis, before manufacturing their own cars from 1978

Born in Felbridge, West Sussex, James Vowles started at Lucky Strike British American Racing Honda in 2001 and stayed with the team through its transitions into Lucky Strike Honda Racing Formula One Team, Honda Racing Formula One Team, Brawn Grand Prix Formula One Team, Mercedes Grand Prix Petronas Formula One Team and Mercedes Aufrecht Melcher Großaspach Petronas Formula One Team before moving to Atlassian Williams Racing.  James started as Team Principal in 2023
